For the 7. Berlin Biennial, curator Artur Żmijewski developed a political space in which to explore the effects of art within society and its connections to social reality and current politics. Moving along this direction, the Swiss Institute of Rome together with other European artistic institutions that operate with this same approach have been invited to undertake “solidarity actions” concordantly to the Biennial’s theme, with the aim of rendering visible a network of organisms active in many different countries, in solidarity between themselves and with the Biennial. The 7. Berlin Biennial was carried out from April 27 to July 1 2012 and was curated by Artur Żmijewski together with Associated Curators Voina and Joanna Warsza. The Biennial was organized by KW Institute for ContemporaryArt, under the patronage of Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation).
